P90X Plyometrics

This morning I woke up late, so I was crunched for time. I really wanted the calorie burn, so I did the hardest DVD I own, P90X Plyometrics.

It is primarily jumping type moves. It is a great workout and I love how it makes me feel afterward! If you want to sweat, this DVD (and all P90X) is the way to go!

P90X Core Synergistics

I woke up early this morning to do a workout I haven't tried yet for the P90X program. I have been liking what I have been doing so much, I almost forgot there were DVDs I haven't even looked at! I read on a web site that the Core Synergistic workout was really hard, so I was looking forward to trying it.

I popped in the DVD and it will full of push ups, planks and mountain climbers. I haven't done any of those for a while, so it was a great work out! I was working hard and it showed in my calories burned!

After work I took a hour spinning class. The instructor is hard core! Spinning bikes have resistant knobs on the bikes to increase and decrease the resistance during the work out.

I know a lot of people think spinning is a crazy and scary work out but it really isn't. You can really make the workout however you want it, using the resistance to make it hard or relatively easy.

Well, of course that is the case when you don't have this instructor! She'll come off the bike and adjust your resistance knob until she feels you are at the level she want you to be. I actually think it a good idea, because she can tell you how she thinks you are doing. Really helps to gage your workout. I will definitely be going to her again!

But, if you are a beginner at spinner, go to a easy instructor and ease into the workout. You won't regret it!

5 hours walk with Nick!

Today I had a walking date with my friend Nick. We don't hang out half as much as we should, so I am glad we got together!

I told him walk date, but he probably thought an hour walk around Ballard or something. Oh, but no! I dragged him all the way downtown and back. The whole walk took us about 5 hours and we walked about 7.5 miles. I haven't walked that long since my sister moved to L.A. and I missed it.

It was a good day!!!

Today's Workout- 3 mile run and Ab Ripper x

This morning I woke up early to go on a 3 mile run around my neighborhood. Felt good, but it was "misting" the entire time. Better than full on rain any day! I ran to the store actually and got some coconut water (a new obsession), then went home. After I got home I did P90X Ab Ripper X, kicks my butt (or abs) every time!

3 mile run (and store)- 440 calories
15 minutes Ab Ripper x- 133 calories

Today's Workout- Spinning!

I took a spin class during my lunch today. It felt really great and a perfect way to break up a work day. I think I am going to do it more often, especially on Fridays. Once the day is usually over, working out is the last thing I want to do!

I can't believe I forgot to post yesterday. Well, of course I still worked out! I woke up early to do P90X Legas and Back. Felt good afterward, but I am a little sore today.

My throat still hurts, but it stopped ruling my life. So I decided to go to the gym for a bit after work.

I warmed up on the elliptical and then did intervals on the treadmill.

And I'm Sick...

There is nothing more frustrating than being sick. Not only that I feel bad, but it gets in the way of work and working out. I am finally starting to get better, but it is pretty frustrating. At least I don't have a temp, just throat problems.

Hopefully I will work out tomorrow for the first time in 3 days. That will make me feel better for sure!

Today's Workout- P90X Plyo

My Great-Grandmother died and I am going to her funeral today, so I am obviously not at work. She was almost 93 years old, she lived a long great life. I can only wish to live a life as full as hers.

I woke up early to do P90X Plyometrics this morning. Lots of jumping! Felt good. A good start to what will be a sad and busy day.

Today's Workout- 3 mile run

I am sore, very very sore from my workouts yesterday and that survivor class on Friday. I am having a hard time moving, but if there is anything I've learned is the best way to get over soreness is to work out.

So, I braved the elements and went on a run for a little over 3 miles. I ran to the store afterward, so I counted that in my time. The run felt great (but I should have brought gloves) and my muscles feel better!

46 minute Run (including cool down walk around the store)- 456 calories burned.

This morning I was planning on going for a run, but it was 26 degrees out and I didn't to slip all over the place..

Instead I did P90X Arms and Back followed by Ab Ripper X. Felt good, but I was sore from Survivor yesterday... I wonder how I will feel tomorrow!

Today's Workout- Spinning!

I recently joined a new gym right next to my work. It has treated me pretty well and has some great classes. Look forward to me blogging about all of them :)

Today I did an hour spinning class. I was at the verge of getting sick a couple times, so I know I worked hard!
Right before I also fit in 10 minutes of the elliptical.

I'm Back!!!!

I got married. We went on our honeymoon. I have my thank yous done. I can blog again! I will just say that everything was wonderful, beautiful, and better than I could have ever imagined.

Don't worry! I have been working out very hard and continuing to track my calories in and out. I gained a bit during out honeymoon, but it is coming off and I am ready to continue improving my fitness!

I even went on a run on my wedding day!

Working out does not rev up your metabolism?

I was reading one of my favorite blogs and found this very disappointing article. A lot of people believe (and I hoped) that working out made you burn calories (or at least fat) hours after. In a study, they found that is most likely not true. I guess you can't just eat whatever you want if you work out!

Today's Workout- P90X Abs and 5 mile run!

I hadn't really run that much since we've moved, so I thought it was about time! I went on a great 5 miler. I ran across the Ballard Bridge, ran down Nickerson then over the Fremont bridge back to home. It was a really great run. Before the run I did the 15 minute Ab Ripper X from P90X. Totally kicked my butt. Today was a great workout day!

Abs- 146 calories burned
Run- 651 calories burned

My Fiance and I moved into a new house, so in other words, I have been REALLY busy! And we haven't had internet.

But don't you worry, I have been working out!!!

We started P90X three days ago and I keep being progressively sorer and sorer. I "thought" I was fit, but these workouts are kicking my butt! Eddie and I are having to take an Advil in the morning just to make it through the morning, we are so sore!

Today's Workout- HIIT on the Elliptical

This morning I woke up early to do HIIT (High Intense Interval Training) on the elliptical. For those who don't know how HIIT works, it is intervals of medium work to very high intense work. It usually is 2 parts of medium work with one part of high intense training. You can do it however you would like, but today I did it on the elliptical for 25 minutes.

Today's Workout- Shadowboxing, Abs and Run!

Today I went to the gym and did a Everlast shadowboxing class! I haven't done this class in a long time, so I was really excited about it. It is half punch combos, half boot camp. Lots and lots of burpees, push ups and mountain climbers! After that class, I did an ab class. Then when I got home, Eddie wanted to go on a run, so I went on a short run. It was a good fitness day!

Today's Workout- LONG walk and Bikram!

I took both Thursday and Friday off, so I decided to make today a fitness day!

Breanne and I decided to walk from my place in South Lake Union to Ballard! Eddie and I bought a house in Ballard and I thought we should go walk to it! We walked to my new home, then all around downtown Ballard. It was a long, great walk besides that on the way home it was raining the whole time!

After we got home from the walk, we decided to go to Bikram class. It was a great class. It was a little hotter than usual, so it made it a little difficult. Really challenging, which is always good!

3.5 hour walk- 944 calories burned
Bikram- about 600 calories burned

Today's Workout- Lake Union Run and City Walk!

This morning I forced myself out of bed to run the 6-7 mile Lake Union Loop. It took all my energy to get out that door and during the first mile, I considered turning back, but I am so glad I did it! I read a quote once that said something like, "you can regret staying in bed, but you will never regret a work out". That could not be more true!

Today's Workout- Run!

So, I went out to run my little 3 mile run. But, I walked out of my apartment with the wrong set of keys! It was 7:15 and Eddie didn't get off work until 8! I did what any runner who didn't want to stand around cold does, I ran for an hour! I ran the South Lake Union Loop. I have been having problems with my IT band, so I told myself as soon as it started hurting, I would stop. But it didn't hurt me the entire time! I am so excited! I finished my 6 mile run right as Eddie got home. It was the perfect workout!

Vacation Workouts!!!

Eddie and I went to Vancouver BC this weekend. We had a fantastic time! 

My Fiance is fantastic, and since he knows how much my world is not complete without a little work out, he surprised me with a... Can you believe this... A workout hotel room! Our room was complete with a treadmill, Pilates equipment and weights! It was fantastic!

With that said, I ran about 3 miles every day in Vancouver!!

Friday- 31 minute run      305 calories burned
Saturday- 30 minute run  277 calories burned
Sunday- 33 minute run    327 calories burned

Also, every single day we walked almost the entire day and even went biking on Saturday around Stanley Park!

Today's Workout- 30 Day Shred!

A few weeks ago I got the 30 Day Shred DVD by Jillian Michaels. I kept hearing the best things about it! I was so excited to finally try it!

The program is of 3 different levels of 20 minute circuit weight/cardio training. 

I just did level 1 today and it was HARD! It might be because the weights they use are like 3-5 pounds and I used 10 pound weights. Either way it kicked my butt!!!

Caffeine for Workouts

I am a big believer in having a little coffee before a work out. I really see a difference in my work outs. I can push just a little harder and longer.

I am really not surprised at all of the hype about the use of caffeine and work outs. It has been getting a lot of press lately though. I even saw it on the local news. I thought this was a good article about it's positive effects.

Please note: I said a "little" coffee. Do not have a large drip coffee too soon before your workout... that will NOT improve your workout! If you are like me, you will get very very sick. 

Facebook is good for you???

It is nice to hear there is some evidence that spending WAY TOO MUCH time on Facebook may actually have positive affect on  your health!
